Press Release
International Apparel Sourcing Show
Javits Convention Center
13 - 15 July 2010

Inaugural edition of the International Apparel Sourcing Show Confirms Market Potential

Co-location with complimentary shows creates synergies

The first edition of the International Apparel Sourcing Show was tri-located with Texworld USA, the largest apparel fabrics show in North America, and the launch of the Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo.

The International Apparel Sourcing Show is the only event on the East Coast focused on sourcing finished apparel and contract manufacturing. In addition, the event provides the opportunity for American companies to develop private label programs - currently a major part of the world’s retail assortment strategy - and access to original design manufacturing programs.

In a post-show attendee survey, 48% of respondents said that their primary reason for attending was to meet with contract manufacturing resources.

The International Apparel Sourcing Show alone drew 108 exhibitors from 8 countries and more than 1,000 attendees. The triple show event as a whole drew 457 exhibitors and more than 5000 attendees.

Accolades for the tri-location came from as far away as China, with several VIPs from the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade in attendance and the New York City Mayor’s Office, who expressed their pride in hosting these international events by stating, “New York is an international fashion capital. Even during these challenging economic times, our City continues to lead this industry in business and innovation, and we’re proud to host three tremendous events for manufacturers and buyers from around the world: Texworld USA, Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo, and International Apparel Sourcing Show. We’re especially pleased to welcome the 250 Chinese exhibitors participating in these shows, in recognition of the strong economic ties that continue to help our two countries’ business communities thrive.”

In addition to China and Hong Kong, Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Nepal, Pakistan and the United States were also represented by exhibitors on the show floor.

Top U.S. companies such as Armani Exchange, BCBG Max Azria Group, Behnaz Sarafpour, Brooklyn Industries, C&C California, Calvin Klein Jeans, Club Monaco, Edun, Elie Tahari, Jones New York, Li & Fung USA, Liz Claiborne, LL BEAN, Madewell/J.Crew
Marc Ecko, MB Sport, New York & Company, Obermeyer, Phillips Van Heusen, Polo Ralph Lauren, Redcats USA, Santa Fe Apparel, Sears, Steven Alan, Urban Brands/Ashley Stewart and Weatherproof Garment Company took advantage of the three day exposition.

Highlights from the seminar program included a presentation by Milan based Materials Editor Sophie-Lucie Dewulf from Stylesight, as well as Andrea Praet, Trend Director at Stylesight, based in New York. Lenzing Innovation and Supima also sponsored a presentation by fashion industry fixture, David Wolfe from the Doneger Group. Both presentations drew crowds of more than two-hundred people and were standing room only.
